Older
Adult Services is one of the many specialized services
at JCFS. It is designed to support the Jewish elderly
in our community in order that they may continue to live
independently, at an optimal level of psychological, social
and physical functioning.
Services provided include:
Individual Counselling
addressing issues of grief, loss, illness, marital problems,
intergenerational conflict or emotional and physical aspects
of aging.
Information
and Referral for accessing
of services available in the larger community.
Advocacy
on behalf of the older adult to insure obtaining of services
to which one is entitled.
Volunteer
Services such as friendly
visitors, grocery shoppers and daily “shalom”
phoners provide additional support for isolated and confined
seniors. JCFS can help provide volunteers with specialized
training to help seniors with special needs.
Support Groups
dealing with topics of grief and loss, cognitive impairment
and memory loss, support for caregivers are all available
through JCFS.
JCFS serves as the local
liaison for Holocaust reparation. Support
for Holocaust Survivors is
offered in a variety of specialized ways on an individual,
group and community level. For more information on Holocaust

Outreach
to the community by providing lectures, seminars and/or
presentations on a particular aspect of aging or an overview
of the services offered by JCFS. These are available by
our staff, who have specialized training in the areas
of aging and Gerontology.
Homemaker Registry
- The agency maintains a registry of individuals who are
available to be hired as homemakers.
