Addiction Supports

JCFS Winnipeg provides support, resources, and education to individuals seeking recovery from addiction challenges as well as to those that care about them.

We are committed to dispelling misconceptions about addiction and reducing the stigma often associated with it.  Through a Jewish perspective, JCFS Winnipeg offers information, psychoeducation, individual and group counselling support, community awareness opportunities, caregiver counselling and support as well as residential program referral assistance.

Addiction is a reality in the Jewish Community of Winnipeg.

A common misconception is that the Jewish community in Winnipeg is immune to issues related to drugs, alcohol or harmful behaviors. The truth is that addiction knows no boundaries. Approximately 10% of the population in Winnipeg, including members of the Jewish community, are affected by substance use. This statistic reflects that 10% of Winnipeg's Jewish population, numbering approximately 1,400, face challenges related to substance use. This number does not even reflect other challenges such as the relationships one may have with gaming, gambling, overeating, shopping, etc. The JCFS Winnipeg Addiction program was created to foster an open and honest conversation about addiction issues within our community, and our commitment to this mission remains unwavering.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with their substance use or a behavior, JCFS Winnipeg is here to assist. Call 204-477-7430 to speak with someone about how you can be supported or connected.
